Zoom is making changes . . .
Zoom will soon require you to update their app if it’s more than 9 months old. Don’t get all grumpy about it; updating is easy (here’s how for Macs, Windows), keeps you safer, and brings you all the newest features.
. . . And so are we
COVID has, of course, made both Zoom and remote support essential. We’re always happy to find ways to serve you better, so as of September 1st, we’re officially switching to Zoom for remote support. Why? Because most of you already have and use it; it works for computers, iPads and iPhones; and you don’t have to install any extra software. Win-win!
Speaking of remote support, we have been providing limited in-person support for fully vaccinated clients, but for everyone’s safety, we’ll continue to prioritize remote support wherever possible. You save money, and we all worry less.
YouTube Confusing?
You’ve said it. We agree, so we’ve organized our growing library of YouTube videos into topical playlists (iPhone, Passwords, etc.). You can browse the list here on our website anytime. The goal is to have a video available for every common question, so you don’t have to keep asking (less embarrassment, more access).

Alert: The Updates Are Coming
Apple is due to announce a slew of updated products, including the iPhone 13, and perhaps new versions of their AirPods, Apple Watch, and iPad Mini. They’ll also begin rolling out major updates to MacOS (Monterey will replace Big Sur), iOS and iPadOS, so consider putting automatic updates on pause until the dust settles; here’s how. (We’ll keep you posted as the news comes out).
Microsoft announced today that Windows 11 will start rolling out on October 5th. They’ve handled the release remarkably badly, creating a lot of confusion about which computers will be compatible; more details here. Again, don’t rush to make the switch.
92nd Street Y Breach
Finally, for all of us who’ve enjoyed the 92nd St. Y for decades, note that they had a recent data breach. (Remarkably, it doesn’t seem to have made the news or appear on their website). Not much you can do, except perhaps reset your password if you have an account with them. While this is much smaller than the recent MASSIVE T-Mobile breach, the Y’s audience has a lot of overlap with ours!
Wishing you a relaxing Labor Day weekend!
